The inaugural Global Summit on Economic Abuse 2025

The inaugural Global Summit on Economic Abuse took place on 18th November 2025. It united changemakers from around the world for a powerful day of action to explore what can be done at both the systemic and societal levels to support victim-survivors and stop economic abuse from happening.

Hosted online to ensure global accessibility, the Summit set out the landscape and stakeholders needed to end economic abuse and highlighted best practice responses, including innovative cross-sector collaborations aimed at addressing one of the most pervasive yet often overlooked forms of abuse. Over 1,500 people tuned in.

The 12 panel discussions and 6 in-focus sessions featuring 62 speakers can be accessed online.

In London and Sydney stakeholders also gathered together for exclusive in-person screenings.

In the UK, voluntary sector organisations from the domestic abuse and money/debt advice sectors, financial institutions, regulators and government officials gathered together at Soho House. ICAEA co-founder Nicola Sharp-Jeffs took part in a pre-screening panel discussion alongside Pamela Zaballa, Global CEO of Summit partner NO MORE They were joined by Coalition member Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) and Summit sponsor Lloyds Banking Group. The event was chaired by journalist Vishala Sri-Pathma.

Domestic Abuse Commissioner for England and Wales, Dame Nicole Jacobs stated her support for global action to address economic abuse outlining her belief that, by working together, we can go ‘faster and further.

In Australia, Summit sponsor, Commonwealth Bank brought together domestic and family violence sector leaders and practitioners; representatives from financial institutions, funders and survivor advocates.

The event featured speakers including ICAEA co-founder Rebecca Glenn of the Centre for Women's Economic Safety together with Australia’s first Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner Micaela Cronin, the New South Wales (NSW) Minister for Women and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault, Jodie Harrison, and the NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner, Dr Hannah Tonkin. It was chaired by Moo Baulch.

The following day, Summit sponsor Norton Rose Fulbright hosted a celebratory reception in their London offices for stakeholders working on economic abuse in the UK and internationally.

Guests heard from Chris Owen (Norton Rose Fulbright Partner, ESG Group Chair and National Head of Pro Bono), Nicola Sharp-Jeffs (ICEA), Jess Phillips MP (Safeguarding Minister), Pamela Zaballa (NO MORE) and the Australian Deputy High Commissions to the UK, Elisabeth Bowes.

They also watched a highlight reel of the Summit itself.
